Honored Senator Roy Blunt and David Castagnetti

Bryce Harlow Award – Senator Roy Blunt

The people of Southwest Missouri overwhelmingly elected Senator Blunt seven times to the U.S. House of Representatives. Senator Blunt was elected the Majority Whip earlier in his career than any Member of Congress in eight decades and was elected to the Senate leadership in his first year in the Senate. Before serving in Congress, he was a history teacher, a county official, and in 1984 became the first Republican elected as Missouri’s Secretary of State in more than 50 years. Senator Blunt also served four years as the president of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. Senator Blunt is married to Abigail Blunt and has four children and six grandchildren.

Business-Government Relations Award – David Castagnetti

 

For nearly 30 years, business and political leaders at the apex of decision-making have called upon David Castagnetti for his unique perspective, experience, and willingness to examine assumptions, providing counsel that is informed, candid and creative.

The successful firm that bears his name is well-known for its bipartisan reach, substantive expertise, communications, and advocacy. David’s extensive experience developing long-term strategic communications and advocacy plans and ability to operate in complex environments has made David a trusted counselor to numerous Fortune 100 companies, Silicon Valley titans, technology start-ups, trade associations, and well-known non-profits.

He is a regular presenter at corporate, non-profit and trade association board meetings, executive retreats, and annual conferences. David’s leadership has been recognized by publications such as BusinessWeek, Washingtonian Magazine, The Hill, and Congressional Quarterly.

Before joining the private sector, David served as Chief of Staff to two committee chairmen, Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) of the Senate Finance Committee and Congressman Norm Mineta (D-CA) of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, contributing to some of the most important policy advancements in the areas of trade, tax, transportation, and technology. When he ran for President in 2004, Senator John Kerry named David his chief liaison to Congress. David began his career as a state director to Senator, then Congressman Ed Markey.

David is a graduate of Lake Forest College, where he is on the Board of Trustees, and the John McCormack Institute at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. He has proudly mentored hundreds of young professionals over the course of his career. David lives in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife Ann and has two amazing sons Andrew and Ben.  He is also part owner of a minor league baseball team.
